Description

An original hand carved linocut print of the gorge trails and rainbow falls at Watkins Glen State Park in upstate New York.

I’ve been to Watkins Glen many times, but every time I visit I’m still filled with wonder that such a strange combination of narrow rock gorges and waterfalls laced with man-made stone trails, stairs, bridges, and tunnels could exist in the real world. A short drive away from home and a short hike through the gorge can transport me to an otherworldly fantasy realm for an afternoon.

Hand-inked and hand-printed from the original carved block on 5″x7″ white 98lb / 160g acid-free paper, printed with Speedball Professional black oil-based relief ink.

Numbered edition of 100 in black on this 5×7 white paper, but there may be other variations on this print outside of this first edition. If additional prints are made, they will be clearly marked to distinguish them from this initial edition of 100.

More info on how I make these prints:

For linocuts, each block is hand-carved with various carving tools. After carving, to create a print, ink is rolled onto the block surface with a roller (brayer), the paper is aligned and put on top of the inked block, and then pressure is applied to transfer the ink to the paper.

Each linoleum block is hand-carved and each print is hand-printed, which means there may be variations in texture or color between prints. This is a unique characteristic of the medium and part of the charm of handmade block prints.

Shipping info:
