Description

I drew and carved this bad bird as a companion piece to the coffee-drinking heron print I made a few weeks ago. The great horned owl was an often heard but rarely seen visitor to our late night summertime campfires in the woods last year. Since I didn’t get much of a chance to see them, this is my rough estimation of what they were up to out there calling in the dark.

Each print is hand-printed by me from the original linoleum block using Speedball Professional Relief inks on 5″x7″ white 98lb / 160g paper. Prints will be signed, titled, and dated (year) in pencil on the front below the print, as shown.

More info on how these prints are made:

For linocuts, each block is hand-carved with various carving tools. After carving, to create a print, ink is rolled onto the block surface with a roller (brayer), a paper is laid on top, and then pressure is applied to transfer the ink to the paper.

Due to the process of hand-inking and hand-printing, there may be variations in texture between prints. This is a unique characteristic of the medium and part of the charm of original linocut prints compared to digital reproductions.

Shipping info:

You will receive the print unframed, in a plastic sleeve, inside a cardboard mailer envelope, as shown in the last picture. I ship via USPS, and shiping cost includes tracking.
